lotsa gardening, lotsa spending – 270 quid at [www.screwfix.com] and 170 at [www.amazon.co.uk] and another 70 at [www.diy.com] 510 quid. oops. big big visa bill upcoming. oh well. oh yeah – plus i threw all my savings into my mortgage account and paid-off about half of it. happy bunny. went over to see friends Iain and Charlotte – twice – on saturday and on sunday, the latter picked up some lumber which will hopefully be turned into a saw-horse this evening, and thence the garden improvement will continue. nice to see them again, also an opportunity to twist the minds of their children towards wrongthink. 😎 monday and i wass fed-up of being in the house, so went biking 100 miles-ish to see Jane (another non-work friend) who recently fell off a horse and fractured her right upper arm in a couple of places. this has somewhat cramped her style, isolating her from work and forcing her to spend more time with her cats. on a whimsy to fill up the afternoon, we decided to clean out her car – a sort of 1.8ltr front-wheel-drive handbag – and therein extracted three or for hefty-bags of clothing, another couple of food, various camping equipment and other stuff. it was amusing, and not unlike time team bunked-off homewards about 6ish heading towards avebury, felt hungry and diverted to the three crowns at brinkworth – a superb must-visit pub/restaurant, southwest of Swindon. sample menu, see [www.threecrowns.co.uk] feeling the need for a decent meal, i had one of the best 20oz t-bone steaks i have ever had – they actually do understand what is meant by medium-rare – asparagus, mushrooms and side veg, plus banoffee pie desert and a couple of pints of lemon soda, for about 35 quid including a goodly tip. then a late-night ride homewards under the stars, through the back lanes of wiltshire and hampshire. bed at 1130ish. jolly good. oh, but how i ache. i am certain that long-distance biking is quite a good form of exercise.
