I just discovered my ex-colleague Adrian Morgan has chucked work (except for the occasional contract, apparently) and expanded the home farm where he lives:
The Empire Farm is an organic farm owned by Sally and Adrian Morgan. The farm occupies 100 acres in the Blackmore Vale, near Wincanton in Somerset.
Sally and Adrian raise organic geese, ducks, sheep and pigs. They are very keen to help promote rare breeds, and they do this by choosing traditional and endangered breeds wherever possible. There is a small breeding flock of Dorset down and Southdown sheep, and a herd of Gloucester Old Spot and Saddleback pigs. There is a wide variety of rare breed geese, ducks and chickens as well as rheas (a South American flightless bird, like a small ostrich).
I’ve had eggs and half-late-lambs before now off Adrian; since a minor disaster a few days ago, most of the contents of my deep freeze has had to be chucked away.
Maybe I can get some mutton? Hmmm… 🙂
