I seem to remember Eric having an interest in Astronomy, so I am not surprised by this happening. I look forwards to trying it out.

I’ve just had a play. Hmm.. It’s no ephemeris.
The main problems I have with it are that the planets and moon aren’t their correct size, they stay the same size whatever the zoom level, and there seems to be no way to set the time to “current” time. Oh, and the labels have big blobs which obscure the object you may actually want to see and the images of the bright stars seem to have been taken when Hubble was out of focus.

Maybe I’m being very stupid, but I can’t find this Google Sky that the BBC refers to. Did I miss the bit that says it isn’t available yet (or even mentioned on google AFAICS). Is this yet another “launch” that realy means start of the marketing campaign! (I really hate that).

I think you just need to upgrade to the latest (beta) version.

This link will help..

Aha – I had done an upgrade-to-latest yesterday, but either messed up somewhere or that only got me to 4.1.7 (beta). I’ve done it again and now have the Sky feature. Many thanks all.
Interesting, though the navigation is a little weird. Perhaps because I am a astronomer novice.
