Self-Repair Update

Well there’s good news and bad news; the day in bed – capped by a long, luxurious, hot bubble bath downstairs – worked really well, but the excess of sleep gave me a slightly uncomfy night, but I even managed to rest on my side for 15 minutes or so.

The BBC World Service is your friend at 0300h in the morning.

However after being up and about for much of today I have re-cracked several ribs down my left side. This sounds bad but I was warned it was/is likely to happen, on and off, for the next few months.

The damage is manifest as a hot stabbing/slicing sensation when the muscles are stressed by coughing or if levering myself up out of a chair. Guys who wetshave are familiar with the sensation of cutting yourself; magnify that by 1000x.

However I can live with it. Ibuprofen will help.

The upside of the re-craquage is that my ribcage feels a lot bigger – I suspect last time they healed I was horizontal and gravity shrunk my chest. Hopefully this time it’ll heal to the proper size, and not feel so squashed.

    Ouch.

If you aren’t already trying it, I’m told vitamin C speeds tissue repair. The Chinese swear by Tai Chi and/or Chi Kung; if you can’t do it physically, they say, do it mentally instead, and you’ll still get the benefits.

    Mend well….
