life update

It’s sunny and hot in Britain, and has been for several days now; it’s not quite the oppressive sultry heat of the tropics, but it suffices to make everything lazy, including myself and my two cats.

This in part explains why most of today has been one long siesta – the rest of the explanation is to be found in a summary of the past few days:

  • wednesday: multiple meetings at work, genning up on some systems i need to work-on

  • thursday: work, unicycle club in wallingford

  • friday: work, prep spare room, bart+kristal arrive

  • saturday: b+k tour london, see avenue q, lust after books, moleskines and stethoscopes. late: cook, beer, pub, cider, bed

  • sunday: early: breakfast, prep/launch b+k, late: laundry, more laundry, yet more laundry

  • monday: work, bus to station (wherein we are squashed by nokia employees planning a wedding) train into london, go to a marvellous party.

  • tuesday: return from london with ripped trousers and an unexpected penalty fare. meetings all day. works dinner at my local indian in the evening.

  • wednesday: work, swapped faulty trousers at shop, humidity briefly soars, thunder rolls in, photograph colleagues taking part in 10km “fun” run

  • thursday: work, unicycle club in evening, see one-footed unicycling, discovered neil hannon on radio while returning unis to office late pm, ended up briefing a colleague on a change of career. bed 0130. (ps: hannon’s set was really good.)

  • friday: triked to work with bullen on his MTB. unicycle meet at work. stay at office until 1930+ on an interesting concall.

  • saturday: get tyres swapped on r1200gs. avoid football. sleep.

It’s not exactly burning the candle at both ends but I need to force myself back into a regime of normality.

Speaking of which it’s 00:10h. Off to bed.

I heart Neil Hannon. I once even suffered the horrors of Wolverhampton to see a Divine Comedy gig – on St Patrick’s Day, no less. What a voice.

I’ve been to two gigs; the last one at RFH for ‘A Short Album about Love’, and a pre-release at Oxford Zodiac for Fin de Siecle; as he’s got older and changed I’ve had to re-learn to appreciate his music, but that’s not a bad thing…
