The Best Use of (ahem) Powerpoint …

Blog Conference

… I should also mention to best use of powerpoint I have seen in a while. Alec Muffet from Sun Microsystems went into slide overload to deliver a fun, clever, and humorous look at the issue of business blogging.

w00t!

Although technically it was a PDF, courtesy of Keynote, rather than Powerpoint.

I have the MP3 now. It’s a bit faster than I thought – 18.5 minutes or one slide every 2.76 seconds.

If I can, I’ll make an animation of it and post it.

I’m not quite sure how to do that, yet; possibly use Ghostscript to bust the PDF into individual PNG files, and then iMovie or Final Cut Express to sync to the changes?

You could try using iText PDF library (http http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) to split the PDF – it’s probably more reliable than Ghostscript, which I’ve always found to be unreasonably fiddly.

The iText library contains a split_pdf entry point for splitting PDFs (funnily enough). I use their concat_pdf functionality very extensively.

A, you are a legend in your own powerpoint system. Was it an Alan Partridge type presentation?
