Government plans for the “prevention of online harms” are well-intended but will perversely bring about many opportunities for greater online harm; the relentless and legally-obliged demands to know more (age, identity, credit cards, address) about the person accessing a website will train people into giving away unnecessary amounts of personal information, with a net greater harm than it protects against.
This is also the kind of scam that will leverage the legal obligations for #AgeVerification and #AgeAssurance which the #OnlineHarms bill is mooting. #UnintendedConsequences
