An American foodie friend was discussing “dry aged beef” with me, and I had him explain it. The concept seemed odd, given what the Brits refer to it as.
Further, as puerile transatlantic naming-conflicts go, it knocks jokes about fags, rubbers, etc, into a cocked hat.
So to speak.

Along with, of course, the Australians wanting sticky tape.
Still, the “american” meaning is gaining far more popularity than the old meaning as you don’t generally get meat hanging for a while in supermarkets whose meat is generally killed and butchered while still twitching and then frozen.
I think everyone should be made to wander around Oxford’s covered market during the deer season to see how meat should be sold. 😉
