The Wicker Man director angry over remake

[…]

In the original, Woodward’s character was a virgin, making him ideal for sacrifice. That element has been ditched from the remake, because it was thought that while audiences would accept the idea of an American community that practised human sacrifice, the idea of a grown-up virgin was just too farfetched.

Mmm… maybe they have a point there, at least in Holloywoodland… 😎

However: I do sometimes feel that certain movies should not be remade. Remaking Its a Wonderful Life would practically be sinful.

May I suggest some more films which shouldn’t be remade for various reasons:-

Bladerunner Plan Nine from Outer Space Laurence of Arabia The Longest Day The Great Escape E.T.

Bah! It lost the carrage returns at the end of each title.

yes, it does that. input boxes are too small and hokey to do proper flat-text formatting.

I think The Wicker Man was a great movie and they sure as hell should NOT remake it. It is a classic, and very much of its era (to wit, much hippyfied nekkid cavorting, et al)

    Not to mention Chris Lee.
