Federal Express (FedEx) Sense-Of-Humour Lossage

Via Make:

So, this guy gets a bunch of FedEx boxes delivered to him, and rather than using them to ship stuff to some remote part of the world, he glues them together to make different kinds of furnituresofas, tables, workstations, chairs and beds.

And, apparently, he actually uses them daily, and they all work. So far, so very Blue Peter. Cardboard is a great material for construction, especially if laminated or as a box girder.

However, this guy then creates a website – [fedexfurniture.com] – and posts pictures on it. The usual geek forums pick this up, discuss it, then FedEx gets wind and sends in the lawyers.

Hilarity ensues.

Lawyers just don’t get it do they. I bet there is someone in FedEx marketing swearing at lawyers just now telling them that instead of legal letters they should be sending more shipping stuff. After all it prove just how strong and thus safe Fedex shipping materials are. They could so easily have turned this around and been heros and got great marketing off it – it would make a great TV add. Instead they come across as a company controlled by their legal department, sigh.

Now is the time for UPS or DHL to send the guy boatloads of shipping material in exchange for him appearing in a TV add 🙂
