How do I configure GNOME (or one of its elements) so that the icons for my Desktop folder are on the right, rather than the left, after (for instance) a “Clean Up By Name” operation?

It’s probably something which needs a few config files hacking, a chicken sacrificed and someone who knows all the secret switches in gconftool. 😉
(Actually, I’m only half joking, if it’s even possible.)

So i saw; the gnome people seem even more bigoted than the mac brigade, especially regarding this topic, according to a mail thread i have found.
I’ve had a look at the Nautilus code, which appears pertinent – it looks scary, but not impossible. Hmmm…
