Safe for bikers to change lane

MOTORCYCLISTS will soon be able to weave their biking magic across more of the road if a promised government review gives them permission to ride in bus lanes.

The Department for Transport’s current advice, published in 1997, recommends that local authorities do not allow bikers into bus lanes, reports Local Transport Today (March 3), but the Government’s newly published motorcycling strategy now says that it will review these guidelines some time this year.

Not all local authorities stick to the current recommendations, and a number of research programmes are looking at what effect this has on other road users.

i think this is a good idea and bikes should be able to ride in bus lanes. it would save alot of time weaving in and out of car when they could just drive up the bus lane. I know that car drivers are not alond to drive in the bus lanes but they do it all the time.
